Over the years, I have noticed how guys usually write emails to girls to initiate a conversation and help each other know better for a good relationship. But Alas! A large number of such guys, before writing emails, would search for some “TIPS” in Google that lead them to some of the big dating websites. Inspired enough by these sites, they write big emails to girls, unaware of the fact that they are NEVER going to be answered.  

Let me explain why. I want you to read this email and find out what is wrong with it.  

“Hi, I was going through your profile and I found out that we share similar interests and background. I belong to XYZ family. I am working in a multinational company in City XYZ and earn XYZ per annum. I have a small loving and caring family. So, I would like to know you better so that we can decide if we are made for each other.” 

The first problem with this email is that it is TOO common. All good looking girls with an attractive profile on matrimonial websites will have their inbox flooded with such emails. When you send such a COMMON email, forget about your email to get even noticed.  

Second, do you notice the most common and obvious word in the email. It is ‘I’. When you email to any stranger, always know that people are least interested to know your encyclopedic information about you and your family. Of course, it matters in later stages of relationship, but initially, you should try not to write bulk of information about these things. Stop bragging about how cool you are and how good family you belong to. Never write big emails. Always be short and precise in emails.  

A great mistake guys generally do is to write ‘pick up lines’ in their emails. Believe me, pick up lines are pathetic and they kill the mood sometime. It is not because they do not sound good. They sound very artificial instead and very cheap many a times. When you write ‘pick up lines’ in emails, it may portray you as someone trying to act smart and that is how it kills the mood.
