Too Aggressive Wanting To CallAlthough online dating provides a way for busy folks to quickly review hundreds or even thousands of potential dates, the getting-to-know you process can move a little slower than traditional dating. In general, people who meet online like to take introductions and conversation slow for a few reasons. In some cases, since online dating can be so anonymous, many women feel it's safer to learn a lot about a man before agreeing to meet him in person. Similarly, men can avoid the "Where's this relationship going?" question by easing into a new relationship slowly. Because of this slow progression, asking a potential date for his or her phone number too aggressively can be an online dating blunder. It’s okay to ask for a phone conversation. You never know, he or she may want to chat with you! But if he or she prefers to keep your relationship in cyberspace for the moment, don't push too hard for a voice-to-voice conversation. Pushing for a phone chat can make you appear needy, aggressive or inconsiderate. However, there are still plenty of options for live chat if you want something more personal than email. Consider online private chat rooms or Instant Messaging. Both allow you to have a conversation in "real time" without sacrificing your privacy or anonymity. No matter how anxious you may be to have a phone conversation, it's always a good idea to respect the other person's boundaries.
