Vasant Panchami is to Saraswati as Diwali, festival of light, is to lakshmi the goddess of wealth and Navratri is to Durga the goddess of strength and power.Sarawati is the goddess of knowledge and learning, representing the free flow of consciousnessand wisdom.Chants to Saraswati begin and end Vedic lessons as she is the mother of vedas.These chants are called the Saraswati vandanas. Saraswati is also the goddess of art and music.As the daughter of Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga, she is beleived to give the power of of speech, wisdom and learning to human beings.. The human personality in learnings are described by her four hands with each representing mind, intellect, alertness and ego.
