Bhaubeej 2010 is when?

Bhaubeej or Bhai Dooj is celebration of the bond of brotherly-sisterly love. Hindus celebrate this special relationship twice every year, with the festivals of 'Raksha Bandhan' and 'Bhai Dooj'. The tradition of reinforcing the bond between brothers and sisters is very much prevalent in Hinduism. This festival is celebrated in all parts of the country on the second day after the festival of Diwali. However, the manner in which the festival is celebrated is slightly different in different regions.

In Bengal this event is called 'Bhai Phota', which is performed by the sister who applies a 'phota' or mark with sandal wood paste on her brother's forehead. She also prays for her brother's long and healthy life. This is usually followed by a good feast at the sister's place, coupled with an exchange of gifts and much merrymaking. In Punjab, brothers pledge to protect their sisters from harm all their lives. This is followed by a customary exchange of gifts. Generally, sisters can ask for anything they want from their brothers on this day. The brother is then supposed to try his best to fulfill his sister's wishes.
