Pantua Milk based

Pantua is a delicacy from the eastern state of West Bengal. They are pancake like sweets made from cottage cheese, khoya and sugar. This milk based sweet is very popular in bengal as well as many regions of north india.

To make pantua for a serving for six, the ingredients are:

150 gm khoya, 250 gm cottage cheese, 3 cups of water, 3 tbsp maida or refined flour, cooking oil, 2 cups of sugar, 1/2 tsp each of rose water and cardamom powder.
Make sugar syrup my boiling sugar with the given amount of water. Add rose water and set it aside. Move the khoya and paneer(cottage cheese) in a large dish and mix them thoroughly in a smooth dough. Now mix the flour and cardamom powder to it. Knead the mix into a dough. Break of pieces from the dough and make circular of oblong shaped balls. Take a frying pan and heat the cooking oil. Deep fry the balls in it till they are brown in color. Now move them into the sugar syrup and allow to soak for some time. Remove from the syrup and serve hot.
