Jal bhora Milk based

Jal bhora is a sweet dish made from cottage cheese and sugar water. It is also a Bengali dish. The sweet is very famous not only in Bengal but also other parts of India.

Bengal is renowned to be the hub of sweetmeats, specially those made from reduced milk. It is said that the varieties of sweets came about as a necessity of the milkmen to make use of the leftover milk. In many parts of India, reducing milk used to be considered a religious taboo, but not so in bengal. So the cottage cheese and chenna based sweetmeats flourished there. Over the years various innovations were made and these sweets spread over all parts of India. They are now hugely popular as bengali sweets.

Jal bhora is yet another version of the cheese and sugar based sweets, most famous being rasgulla. It is a sweet mouth watering dish consisting of cheese based balls. Jalbhora is available in most of the sweet shops in India but the most famous are from those in Kolkata.
