Jaangiri is also very sweet and is so soft that it melts in the mouth. Although it is not as widely known as the Jalebi, jaangiri is equally delicious and is quite popular in the southern states of tamil nadu, karnataka, kerala, etc. Jaangiri can be very prominently seen displayed in the numerous sweetmeat shops all over south india. Jaangiri is made of rice and gram flour. The batter i fried in oil into spirals which is then dipped in sugar syrup. For preparing jaagiri, you need 25 gm rice, 250 gm urad daal, 1 kilo sugar, water and food color(preferably orange). Soak the dal and rice overnight and grind them together with some water into paste. make the sugar syrup by boiling the sugar in 2 cups pf water. Add the food color in it. Now heat some cooking oil in a frying pan and pour the batter in the oil through a mould designed for making jaangiri. This is a difficult part and requires some expertise in making the correct shape. et the spirals fry till they are golden yellow and then immediately dip them in the sugar syrup. Let them soak for some time and then remove. Jaangiri is ready.
