Goli bajje

Goli bajje is a snack which is similar to bhajji or pakoda. It is a speciality of Karnataka. The dish is made of rava or maida that is fried in coconut oil. Goli Bajji of Mangalore, a city in Karnataka are the most widely known.

Goli bajji is a version of bhajia or bhajji or pakoda, that is eaten all over India. These make a very delicious tea snack. It is common practice to make hot bajjis during cold rainy days.

The following is the recipe of goli bajji. You will need:

Maida 1.5 cup, 3/4 cup yogurt, 1 tsp gram flour, 1 tsp each of chopped green chillies and ginger, 1/2 tsp baking soda, some curry leaves, 1 tsp sugar, cooking oil, salt to taste.

Make a dough by mixing together the maida, gram flour, yogurt, baking soda etc. Let it stand for half an hour. take a portion of the dough at a time and roll it into a ball. Now deep fry the balls. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
