It is an extremely popular dish in and around Mumbai and the Raigad region of Maharashtra. It is made from sea fish called Bombay Duck, that is another reason why it is so popular in the coastal region of India. The following is a very easy way to make fish bombil fry or Bombay duck. To make the dish, you need the following ingredients. Take some eight to ten Bombay duck and clean it properly and cut it into two pieces. Six potatoes of medium size, 5 to 6 tablespoon of coriander leaves, green chilies to taste, three tablespoon garlic paste, little bit haldi approx half spoon, 1 tablespoon chili, grated coconut, oil, salt. Wash the Bombil fish to clean it properly in running water and wash the potatoes as well. Do not peel off the skin. Put the garlic paste and chili into the fish. Coat potatoes with grated coconut , haldi and salt. Put both the items together. Heat oil in a vessel and put both the items in it. Stir well. One thing you must make sure is that the oil spreads throughout the items. Now cover the vessel and wait till the potatoes and fish are ready. When they are done, remove the cover and serve.
