West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences was established under the WBNUJS Act in 1999. The University has been granted permanent affiliation by the Bar Council of India in July 2005. It is located in Kolkata. The five year integrated B.A./B.Sc. LL.B.(Honors) Degree program is the undergraduate course offered, while the post-graduate courses offered is the LL.M. degree. The University also offers doctoral degrees.
The University offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in law and related subjects. The University has made it certain that there is flexibility and creativity in the courses offered at all levels. The faculty enjoys academic freedom to innovate and experiment. Based on the insights attained and experiences gained, the content of the subjects are updated and put it into appropriate application. The University offers B.Sc., LL.B. (Honors) degree to undergraduate students who pursue science-related law courses during their study.
The University Central Library has a collection of more than 10,000 books and periodicals, as well as a sizeable collection of online legal databases including SCC Online, Grand Jurix and Manupatra Online. The library holds institutional membership with the British Council and the American Information Resource Center, enabling students to access their databases.
The Moot Court Society forms the backbone of all mooting activities in NUJS. It conducts a rigorous three-stage selection process, with both student judges as well as external judges, to identify teams for representing NUJS at national as well as international moot court competitions. Besides these, the MCS also organizes the NUJS National Moot on Corporate Social Responsibility annually.
