University of Kalyani covers an area of 400 acres in Kalyani town, West Bengal. The University has been accredited by The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) as a Three Star Level University. It is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), and Global University Network for Innovation (GUNI).
The University is presently offering twenty three post graduate programs under four faculties, namely, Science, Arts & Commerce, Education, Engineering Technology & Management. Two more faculties of Law and Music & Fine Arts have been approved recently under the University Act. The University is providing academic guidance and leadership to 36 affiliated degree colleges. The standards of teaching in the affiliated colleges are monitored by a Council for Undergraduate Studies, Planning Board, and a nominated College Deve1opment Council (CDC)
The University has introduced a wide range of curricular options to train the students in different fields of specialization. The extension and outreach activities, as well as innovative programs of the Adult and Continuing Education Centre are quite impressive. The University has made a provision for feedback from students relating to hostel facilities, examinations and general administration. This is done through Council of Students' Welfare and Students' Executive Council.
The University also has comprehensive infrastructure and facilities within its campus that include the Central Library, Laboratories, Health Centre, Gymnasium and sports facilities, Hostels, and a Guest House. The Central Library of Kalyani University is fully computerized and offers Reprographic facilities, Reference Services, and Digital Information Services. 1Mbps internet service is provided by BSNL.
