Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has its Headquarters at New Delhi with 5 Regional Offices at Mumbai, Chennai, Kanpur, Kolkata, and 98 branches spread all over the country. The Institute has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body in the country for its contribution in the fields of education, professional development, maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards. In addition to the centers in India, it has also set up 11 chapters outside India.
The Board of Studies of ICAI is primarily engaged in imparting education mainly through distance education mode to the students of the professional course of Chartered Accountancy, as well as Professional Education courses leading to the Chartered Accountancy. It conducts Compulsory Computer Training Program for 250 hours, Course on General Management, Communication Skills and Chartered Accountancy course. The study materials are distributed to the students registered for various courses through regional offices and selected branches.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India provides placement services for the members and students. The various schemes have been evolved to provide an opportunity both to employing organizations as well as the young professional aspirants to explore the possibility of taking up positions in industry.
The Institute is a founder member of various International professional bodies such as the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), and the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA. It has played a prominent role in the International Bodies through its nominees who are working on the governing Council as well as various Committees of those bodies.
