Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE), Madurai, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai is one among the several educational and philanthropic institutions founded by industrialist Late Shri. Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar. It was established in the year 1957. TCE is funded by Central & State Governments and Management. The courses offered in TCE are approved by All India Council for Technical Education. It was granted Autonomy in the year 1987.
TCE offers nine undergraduate programs, eleven postgraduate programs, and Doctoral programs in Engineering and Science. The various study areas include Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Structural Engineering, Power Systems, Communication Systems, Wireless Technologies, Applied Mathematics, Applied Chemistry, and Material Science. TANCET/GATE are prerequisites for admissions to TCE for PG & UG Courses respectively.
With the active co-operation of the students, the Placement Cell helps graduates to contact various organizations (both public and private) and arrange for in-plant training during vacations. It contacts organizations to get permissions for final year MCA students to undertake project work. Organized model tests, aptitude test, group discussions and contests are conducted in order to train final pre-final students to face interviews and competitions.
Thiagarajar College of Engineering has got various clubs and activities grouped under the Cultural Association. The Cultural Association aims at identifying the various hidden talents of students. It sponsors students for Inter-college cultural events to enable them to prove their mettle. It also organizes separate inter-school cultural competitions for rural and urban students.
