Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women, Coimbatore was established in 1991. It is affiliated to the Bharathiar University. The college is promoted by the SNR Sons Charitable Trust. The college is named after Sri Ramakrishna, who was a spiritual leader and who represented the very core of the spiritual realizations of the seers and sages of India.
The following undergraduate programs are offered at this college: BBM (CA), BBM, M.Sc (Computer Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology), BCA, B.Com, and B.Com (CA). Postgraduate programs are also offered. These include MCA, MSc (Computer Science, Bio Informatics, Microbiology), and M.Com (CA). A certificate course is also run in the college in collaboration with a software company. Students of commerce and computer science have better job opportunities on completion of this course. Admissions to UG and PG courses are made on the basis of academic record at the qualifying examination and reservation policy of the State Government and Bharthiyar University.
The College conducts several national seminars throughout the year under the aegis of national bodies such as the UGC and MNES. The students are encouraged to take active part in sports. Yoga and Art of Living classes are being conducted for physical fitness. Measures are taken to identify and encourage students who are interested in sports and games.
Welfare schemes like Grievance Redressal Cell and a separate Women’s Grievance cell are functioning in the college. The Management partly contributes to the medical insurance premium of the employees. The Management also provides fee concessions to meritorious students and physically handicapped students.
