Sri G.V.G. Visalakshi College for Women, Udamalpet is the first Women’s College to be founded in 1953 by the leading industrialist and educational philanthropist Sri. G.V.Govindaswami Naidu. G.V.G is now a prominent women’s college in South India under the Bharathiar University. The college aims at fostering research and development, empowering women through substantial growth and molding the young women to follow and lead.
The college offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs in the fields of Economics, History, English Literature, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Management, and Commerce. The Placement Cell plays a pivotal role in finding employment for eligible candidates in the nearby schools, colleges, industries and other companies. With the assistance of the Department of English and Department of Computer Science, the Placement Cell organizes Special Training Programs on Communicative Skills, Aptitude and Personality Development. Special care is taken to send the students with a staff escort to interview spots.
The College has seven spacious laboratories with latest gadgets and equipments, well-furnished class rooms, 2 audio-video rooms with OHP facilities, well designed Computer Labs, one Language Lab, and computerized library with reprographic and Internet access. The Language Lab is a centre for developing correct English Pronunciation, accent, speed in reading and fluency in spoken English.
