Nirmala College for Women

Nirmala College for Women, Coimbatore is a residential college exclusively for women offering both arts and sciences courses. It is run by the Franciscan Sisters of the presentation of Mary. The college is affiliated to Bharathiar University. The primary objective of the college is to provide university education in a Christian atmosphere for deserving women students, and those belonging to the Catholic community. Although this college is meant primarily for Catholics, it admits other students irrespective of caste and creed.

The college offers the following courses of study: B Sc Mathematics, B Sc Chemistry, BSc Botany, BSc Zoology, BSc Geography, BA History, BA English Literature, BA Economics, BCom, BBM, BSc Computer Science, MSc Mathematics and MA History. All UG Students have to compulsorily opt for any one of the three co-curricular activities, namely NSS, NCC and games. 75% attendance and a qualifying pass mark in the opted area is a must to complete the degree. The college is free to introduce job-oriented, certificate and diploma courses after college hours.

Hostel accommodation is available. Regular parent -warden meetings are conducted for the welfare of hostel life. A three-hour orientation program on moral values for ‘freshers' and a one-day seminar on human psychology are conducted for all hostel students. The College Library extends its facilities to the needs of P.G. students of many affiliated colleges in Coimbatore.

The Placement Cell disseminates information regarding job-opportunities and higher education in India and abroad through its Career Corner boards. The Placement Cell also disseminates career information through company brochures.
