Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore is a private Engineering College started in 1984 under the auspices of Ramanandha Adigalar Foundation, a charitable educational trust. The college is affiliated to the Anna University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). All 10 eligible programs have also been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
The college has 13 academic departments and 4 research centers. Currently the college offers 12 under-graduate (B.E., B.Tech.), 12 post-graduate (M.E., M.Tech., MCA, MBA) and 3 Ph.D. programs under affiliation to the Anna University. The college has academic alliances with various institutions like Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic; Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, USA; National Institute of Agronomic Research (INRA), France; Infosys - Campus Connect; Wipro Infotech; Confederation of Indian Industry; Indian Textile Accessories & Machinery Manufacturers' Association.
KCT has a state of the art Library. The library provides access to DELNET (Developing Library Network), INDEST (Indian Digital Library on Engineering Science and Technology), J-GATE Electronic Directory Service by Informatics, ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Digital Library, BCL (British Council Library), and ACI (American Concrete Institute). In addition, each department of KCT has its own departmental library.
The college encourages various extra-curricular activities. Students volunteer for NCC and NSS. There are various clubs like KCT Music and Fine Arts Club, quiz club, KCT debating society, The Tamil Mandram, KCT Rotaract Club, and Humor Club. These clubs encourage active participation of the members in various inter-collegiate programs. They help in bringing out the hidden talents in individuals.
