The college has received considerable help and encouragement from the district administration as a result of which it has developed and progressed in many ways. From 40 girls in the beginning, it now has on its rolls over 600 students from not only various parts of the Nilgiris, but also from the plains. The college professes to cater to the needs of girls who can't even "dream of higher education". The main aim was to reach out to the economically handicapped families of the Nilgiris who did not have the wherewithal to make their daughters graduates. It offered several scholarships, particularly to the Scheduled Caste students. High on the list of priorities were character-building and provision of quality education. The students are encouraged to participate in sports, extra curricular activities and social service.
