Stewart School was founded in 1882 by the enterprise and generosity of Dr. William Day Stewart, a Civil Surgeon based at Cuttack. The school is under the management of the Diocese of Cuttack, Church of North India. The same management runs the Stewart College in Cuttack, which is a leading institution for higher education in the city. The school is known for the huge range of extension activities, which enhance formal curriculum. The school has a dedicated and highly qualified staff both teaching and non-teaching.
Stewart School makes an orchestrated effort to streamline education to relate it to the needs of the society. The management has tried to usher in an era of versatility for the student community. The school conducts classes from Nursery up till Class 10. The school holds regular Parent-Teacher meeting days, so that students can get an idea about the progress of their wards. The school also encourages the students to take part in extra- curricular and co-curricular activities. In the Annual Festival, students take part in various events like drama, singing, quizzes etc.
The school has a Cyber Club which teaches Java using Blue J editor in Classes 9 & 10. MS Office is taught to classes 3 to 8. The Cyber Club offers several other computer-related services. These include installing computer systems, computer programming,
HTML & technical writing, data recovery etc. The Cyber Club runs as a separate business organization within the school itself.
