Rama Chandra Mardaraj Science College is situated in Khallikote, Orissa. It is named after the social reformer, Raja Bahadur Ramachandra Mardaraj Deo of Khallikote. Besides being an ardent lover of art and architecture, he turned Khallikote into a city of magnificent temples. Many schools, colleges and institutions in the district bear the imprints of his royal personality.
The following subjects are taught in the college as per the unified syllabus approved by higher education: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Geology, Environmental Science, Industrial chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, and Micro-Biology. Following subjects at Under Graduate level are taught as per U.G.C. recommendation: Computer Applications, Bio Technology, and Computer Maintenance.
Centralized Library facilities exist for all students. A well furnished general library (proposed for computerization) exists in the college. There are approximately 42,000 books in the library. In addition, PG students of vocational subjects get access to departmental libraries in all departments. The college has facilities for all important games; indoor courts for table – tennis and badminton have been provided.
Co-curricular activities include N.C.C., N.S.S. and those activities of the monitorial guides that relate to physical development. The college also has Theater, fine arts, Music Club and a Literary Society. The students participate in most of the events on a community basis, which gives them an experience of art awareness and also develops in them the virtues of good citizenship.
