Orissa Engineering College is located in Bhubaneswar, Orissa. It is affiliated to Utkal University and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. The college was established in 1986 and has the distinction of being the first private engineering college in eastern India. It offers four year engineering courses for various branches.
The college offers undergraduate degree programs in the following disciplines: Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. All the courses are for a total duration of four years. In order to be eligible for admission, students must pass 10+2 with physics, chemistry and mathematics with 50% marks or should be diploma holders in engineering or B.Sc degree. A Joint Entrance Examination is conducted each year for admission to the undergraduate degree courses in Engineering.
The college has a well equipped Computer Center as a central facility and a CAD/CAM center. The students have the opportunity to work under DOS, UNIX and Windows NT environments. Two advanced Internet centers have been set up. It has a LAN network with over forty terminals in each. The college has 24 hours, leased broadband Internet connectivity. The departments are networked with LAN/WAN, connecting all the labs, staff rooms and library.
There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The Central Library has thousands of books, journals and periodicals. Students get access to projects using latest software and hardware. The students also take part in various extra-curricular activities like sports and debating. The placement activity is entirely managed by the students.
