Orissa Computer Application Centre is the designated Technical Directorate of Information Technology Department, Government of Orissa. It is also the leading IT consultancy organization, and is responsible for the steady growth of IT in the state. Established in 1985 as the nodal agency, OCAC was conceived by the State Government to bridge the gap between services & people and theory & practice. It continues to develop knowledge-based solutions and practices.
OCAC is a professional, not-for profit organization dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and quality of teaching at all levels in IT. It has established itself as a resource centre for many centrally-sponsored projects related to e-Governance, citizens' access to information, multimedia applications and Indian language applications. OCAC trains government professionals in handling application software organization. In addition, since OCAC is a POP Centre of ERNET, India, it has provided internet services to many prime educational institutions. OCAC also develops client server, Web-based applications, GIS & AutoCAD applications and Office automation systems.
Through the e-Governance, the Government services are made available to the citizens in a convenient, efficient and transparent manner. To achieve this, the Government employees are being trained on technology and made aware of the advantages of Information and Communication Technology. The aim is to make them thorough with e-Governance applications and responsive to the technology driven administration.
The Industry Facilitation and IT Promotion Cell was constituted by the Information Technology Department at OCAC. It helps in IT industry investment promotion, creation of employment opportunities in IT & ITES sectors, and placement assistance.
