College of Basic Sciences and Humanities is situated in Bhubaneswar, Orissa. It was established in the year 1964. It is one of the constituent colleges of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology. The institute is duly approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
All the branches have a common course to get acquainted with the basic knowledge of subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Communicative English. Basic science is taught with laboratory practical work. The labs are well equipped with sophisticated instruments. In order to gain admission, students must qualify through Orissa JEE conducted by State Government of Orissa, or Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Orissa Private Engineering Colleges Association (OPECA), Bhuaneswar.
Communicative English is given a lot of importance. Use of Audio visual aids, conduct of assignments, practice lessons, group discussions and coaching on GRE/TOEFL models are held in the Spoken English Laboratory. This laboratory is equipped with imported software. These include language correction tools, phonetic recognition tools, personality development skill sets, career launching tips and language modification tools like Random House talking dictionary, vocabulary wizard, and text-to-speech engines.
A fully equipped Library has the latest journals in Science and Technology. The Library has a Computerized Management System, enabling both the students and staff members to get the information about the library easily. A digital library has been installed for faster access to study materials on the Web. The college provides separate hostels for boys and girls. A medical officer is specially appointed to take care of the students’ health.
