College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar (CET) was established in 1981 with two branches of Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Subsequently other branches of engineering were introduced. Currently, there are almost 900 students studying at the campus. CET is famous for producing many young engineers who have been doing well in the industry. It is the only Government Engineering College at Bhubaneswar with excellent academic standards. It is one of the constituent colleges of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology.
The college offer Bachelor’s degree courses in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation & Electronics, Information Technology, and Architecture. The degree course in Architecture is of 5 years duration, while the rest are of four years. It also offers 3 year MCA and 2 year M.Tech course in certain disciplines of engineering. A "Joint Entrance Examination" is conducted each year for admission to the undergraduate degree courses in Engineering. For MCA, the minimum qualification for admission is B.Sc / B.Com / B.A with statistics or Mathematics as one of the subjects.
There is a well equipped Computer Center as a central facility and a CAD/CAM center. The students have the opportunity to work under DOS, UNIX and Windows NT environments. The Central Library has thousands of books, journals and periodicals. Students get access to projects using latest software and hardware.
The students also take part in various extra-curricular activities like sports and debating. The placement activity is entirely managed by the students under the guidance of Senior Professors. Many different organizations entertain the students for Summer Training.
