The Grant Medical College is one of the premier medical institutions in India and the oldest institution teaching western medicine in Asia. It is situated in Mumbai, India. The college is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The college accepts 200 students per year for the undergraduate course, and has some seats for postgraduate courses as well.
For MBBS course, admissions are based on the rankings in the All India Common Entrance Test (AICET). The college also offers postgraduate degree and diploma courses in various disciplines. Some of the important disciplines are: Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, ENT, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Preventive and Social Medicine, Orthopedics, Anesthesia, and Radiodiagnosis.
The Research Society of the college sponsors various research projects undertaken by post-graduate students under the guidance of various senior doctors. It awards PG students for the Best Research paper & Best Thesis. It also sponsors various scientific conferences, medical workshops & a number of symposia. Deserving MBBS undergraduate students are awarded the Dr. S.R. Moolgaonkar scholarship.
The Grant Medical College Student’s Association is a prestigious representative body of the students engaged in Student Welfare Activities. It is responsible for the upkeep of the Boys Common Room, Ladies Common Room and the Gymkhana and for the entire student related activities inside or outside the campus. The institute holds its annual inter-collegiate festival ‘astitva’ in the month of February. The star studded event has an array of activities- symposia and quizzes, hilarious informals, dance competitions, a scintillating DJ night, and treasure hunts.
