Aegis was founded in India in 2002, with the support of Bharti (Airtel, a leading telecom company in India). It was the first institution in India to offer a Telecommunication Management program. The program is designed along the lines of Oklahoma State University's Master’s Program in Telecommunication Management (MSTM). The institute is situated in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
The Master’s Program in Telecommunication is designed to bridge the gap between what industries require, and what the engineering graduates know. The graduates are expected to have not only business knowledge in general, but also to be technically skilled to contribute to the specific industry domain. This course offers an excellent opportunity for engineering graduates to hone their skills that would help them in the later stages of their career. Apart from this course, the school has also tied up with US telecom company Tonex, for three short term courses in Telecommunications.
Admission to the school is done on the basis of an All India Entrance Test. The Rajiv Gandhi Technical University offers its technical help to the school, although the school is not affiliated to the University. It is expected that the University might start some courses in collaboration with the school in the near future. The tie-ups with international companies provide the students with opportunities to know the latest developments in the Telecommunications field.
Following the success of this program, Aegis also launched a one year MBA program and two years Executive MBA (in association with Schiller International University) in Mumbai.
