Sree Narayana Gurukulam College of Engineering was established in the year 2002 by Kunnathunadu S.N.D.P Union, head quartered at Perumbavoo, Kerala. The institution is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

Initially, All India council For Technical Education accorded sanction for offering three
B.Tech courses in Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Electronics & Communication Engineering. After considering the pace of development and infrastructure creation within the first two years, AICTE sanctioned B.Tech course in Mechanical Engineering and MBA program to this institution during 2004. Undergraduate degree course in Civil Engineering has also been recently started at this institute. Being a self financed educational institution, admissions are made under two categories: 50% under government quota on the basis of common entrance test, and 50% under management quota.

The college encourages its students to do summer internship training in reputed corporate houses as part of their co-curricular activities. The IEEE branch at SNG provides an ideal forum for students to network with professionals all over the world and share learning resources. The Training and Placement Cell trains students on soft skills, interpersonal relationships, personality development and Aptitude Test training. Design competitions, quiz, technical sessions, experience sharing sessions, new product introduction sessions, and inter departmental competitions are regularly organized.

The college library houses more than 12,000 volumes. It has spacious reading
rooms, reference sections, journal sections, periodical sections and CD ROM based information systems. The Internet centre provides net access through a dedicated fiber optic cable having 256Kbps bandwidth. The client computers have Windows and
Linux environment.
