	Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology is located in Pampady, Kottayam district, Kerala. It was started in 1991. Though initially named Government Engineering College (GEC) Kottayam, the college was renamed Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, in memory of the former Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. It is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

The institution is recognized by AICTE and has an annual intake of 75 students per branch, selected strictly on the basis of merit. The following undergraduate courses are taught here: Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. A postgraduate program in Computer Applications is also offered. Admission to B.Tech courses are strictly based on the rank obtained by the candidates in the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination.

The Career guidance and placement cell arranges campus selection and placement by various companies. Guidance and coaching for GATE examination for the final year students is also offered by the cell. In addition, information regarding higher education facilities in India and abroad is made available. A Parent teachers association helps the authorities in maintaining academic excellence and providing additional facilities for the students.

The central library is fully computerized with facilities like networking, online referencing, etc. There are about 20,000 books and 26 subscribed journals in the library. The collection comprises of a book bank scheme (books for scheduled caste students). Hostel facility is available for both men and women. The present capacity of the hostel is 120 each.
