	NSS College of Engineering
NSS College of Engineering is located in Akathethara, near the town of Palakkad, in the state of Kerala. It was established in 1960 by Nair Service Society under the leadership of late Bharatha Kesari Mannathu Padmanabhan, with the assistance of the Central and State Government under the Grant-in-Aid scheme. The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut.

The college started with three branches of engineering: Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. However, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, and Computer Science Engineering were later introduced. Only undergraduate programs are offered. The B Tech courses in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering have been accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation). All the departments are due for next accreditation and the institution is getting ready for the process. Admission to the course is on the basis of the All Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination, conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Kerala.  The Commission fills up 85% of the seats on the basis of merit, while the management fills up the rest of the seats.

There are 3 Men's Hostel Blocks and 1 Ladies Hostel Block with an inmate capacity of 483 and 172 respectively. A Central Computing Facility and a Central Library have been provided as well. The Placement, Training & Information Bureau (PTIB) provides all possible assistance to students in their efforts to find jobs. The National Service Scheme works in the college to arouse the students’ social conscience, by engaging them in creative and constructive social action.
