Medical College, Dental Wing

The Dental Wing of the Pariyaram Medical College was started in 2004. This college offers 41/2 year course of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), which is affiliated to Kannur University. This college provides educational facility in the field of Dentistry to the people of Kannur District and Kerala. It is approved by the Dental Council of India. The College is located in Pariyaram, adjacent to the National Highway, between the towns of Taliparamba and Payyanur. It is well connected by rail and road.

The BDS course has an annual intake of 60 students. Out of these, 30 seats are merit seats; the rest are management and NRI quota seats. Admission to the BDS course is made according to the regulations of Government of Kerala and Kannur University.

The Dental College is housed in a building which is in the central part of the Academy of Medical Sciences complex. The College is connected by covered passage to the medical education Building and the Hospital Complex. Separate boys and girls hostels are provided for the students. The Dental College has all the modern Dental treatment facilities like an OPG X-Ray, Fixed appliance therapy, peridontal surgery, and fixed prosthodontics. The College has sufficient theatre facilities for orthognathic surgeries and care of Maxillofacial Trauma.

Specialty clinics are run in the departments of Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Oral Medicine, Conservative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Paedodontics and Periodontics. The people around this area make use of the treatment facilities at subsidized treatment rates, which is one of the biggest attractions for the economically weaker sections of society.
