Government Engineering College, Thiruvananthapuram was established in 1999 in the picturesque Barton Hill located right in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city. The college is one of the most preferred choices for students selected through the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Government of Kerala. The institute is affiliated to University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. The institution is fully owned by the Government of Kerala under the Department of Technical Education.
The college offers 4 year undergraduate programs in the fields of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology, and Mechanical Engineering. All these programs are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The intake is 60 regular students and six lateral entry students per year.
A Career Guidance & Placement Cell function in the college in order to co-ordinate the placement and other related activities. The Placement Cell of this college also acts as a Nodal Centre for co-coordinating the recruitment process by participating students from various other Engineering Colleges in the State. The students who secure marks above 68% up to the sixth semester are considered for selection in various companies. Infosys, NCR, VSNL, HCL, Dell, IBS, US SOFTWARE, and Larsen & Toubro are some of the firms that visit the campus every year.
The central library of the college houses more than 8000 books and periodicals including several reputed international journals and magazines. Internet connectivity is available to each department through three separate links of 128, 512 and 544 kbps. Arrangements have been made to practice athletics, football, volleyball and weight training on the campus. |
