College of Engineering, Kidangoor, Kottayam was established during the year 2000-2001 under the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE), which is a Kerala Government undertaking. CAPE is an autonomous society which sets up new professional institutions in the state in the fields of technical, medical and management education. CAPE has set up four other Engineering Colleges in the state, located at Perumon, Vadakara, Thalassery and Thrikkaripur.
The College is affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The admissions are based on the rank obtained by the students in the State Entrance examinations. Functioning of the college is according to the rules and regulations formulated by the Government of Kerala. The college offers undergraduate courses in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Information Technology.
The computer lab of the institute is equipped with latest computer systems of different configuration. Advanced peripherals like different types of Printers, Scanners, Modems, and CDD etc are also available in the Hardware laboratory. The Multimedia Lab is intended for Information technology students in order to expose them to Multimedia Projects like familiarization of various sound file formats. A System Programming and Advanced Micro Processor Lab has been established for the study of low-level programming.
The Central library has a collection of over 9000 volumes of books, along with national and international journals, periodicals and national dailies. The Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of the College closely monitors the functioning of the hostels on the campus. |
