The Cooperative Institute of Technology is an engineering college under The Cooperative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE), Kerala. It was established in the year 1999. It is located in the city of Vadakara. The institute provides quality education at the undergraduate level in different fields. It is affiliated to The Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala.
The Institute is known for producing high quality technical personnel with sound footing of basic engineering principles. The students also inculcate innovative research capabilities and exemplary professional conduct as part of their training. The institute offers B-tech in Computer Science (CS), Electronics and Communication (EC), Electronics and Instrumentation (EI), and Information Technology (IT). Admission is through the statewide Common Entrance Exam (CEE) which is held every year.
The institute uses various methods of teaching. These include case-discussions, seminars, group activities, project works, presentations, and simulations. The performance report of each student is accessible for parents in order to convey the grades, attendance and other performance results for all semesters. The institute also runs the training and placement cell to help students prepare for the recruitment process. Major companies conduct campus interviews for final year students.
The campus has state-of-the-art laboratories and workshops. The library has the latest books, journals and CD-ROMS on information and communication technology. The library has about 70,000 technical books and about 150 periodicals. For accommodation, the institute has separate hostels for both men and women.
