Carmel Engineering College is located in Ranni, in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. It is a self-financing private engineering college. The college is affiliated by the Mahatma Gandhi University. The Mahatma Gandhi University is a premier institution of learning in the state, and it has 21 teaching and research departments and 183 colleges under it. The University is located in Kottayam, which is famous for being the first place in India to achieve one hundred percent literacy.
The college offers Bachelor’s and Master’s level courses in the disciplines of Computer Science& Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Information Technology and Electronics & Communication Engineering. In addition, Ph.D courses, diploma courses and certificate courses are also offered in a number of disciplines. All the courses are approved by the AICTE. The infrastructure available in the college for the students follows the guidelines of the AICTE. All the laboratories are well-equipped with the latest equipments.
Regular training sessions are held in all the departments. The college has an active Training and Placement Cell. The role of this cell is to conduct mock interviews, organize events like seminars and expert lectures, hold classes for Personality Development, and help students in improving their communication skills. The teaching methods are innovative. Parents are able to track the progress of their wards through the university website. Parent-teacher meetings are also scheduled.
For accommodation, the college has hostel with all the basic amenities available. The college also provides accommodation outside the campus. The college library has a collection of over 10,000 books.
