Lalbhai Dalpatram College of Engineering, located in Ahmedabad is one of the premier engineering colleges in the state of Gujarat. The institute is affiliated to Gujarat University and administrated by Directorate of Technical education of Gujarat. It was established in 1948. The institute offers 4 undergraduate, 12-post graduate and 4 part-time programs.
Admission to undergraduate programs is based on Standard XII scores. Certain seats for admission to the first year are earmarked for government of India nominees. Postgraduate admissions are mainly based on GATE score. For MCA, admission is based on a centralized entrance test, where 10 seats are reserved for students of other states. For part time courses the admission is governed at institute level.
The college offers Bachelor’s and Master’s level courses in the fields of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Textile Technology, and Environmental Engineering.
The institute library has about 70,000 technical books and about 150 periodicals. The library has latest collection of reference books, handbooks, and encyclopedias. The institute maintains the training and placement cell to help students prepare for the recruitment process. Major companies conduct campus interviews for final year students. Entrepreneurship awareness camps are organized at the institute to prepare the students.
The college maintains liaisons with major companies, and invites them for expert lectures, testing consultancy projects, investigations, students training counting education programs and seminars. Hostel facilities provide accommodation to 750 students. Entertainment and sports facilities are also provided. A gymnasium is also available. |
