Velegapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College (VRSEC) is the first private institution to offer undergraduate education in engineering in Andhra Pradesh. The institution is located on the out skirts of Vijayawada city, at a distance of about 6 kilometers from the city centre. Founded in 1977, this college has a good reputation in engineering education.
The teaching staff, totaling 120 at present, comprises well qualified professionals with varied experience and backgrounds. The faculty members are actively engaged in research work and publish their findings regularly in national and international journals. The college offers Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical engineering, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics & Communications, and Civil engineering. Master’s degrees are offered in Electronics & Communications.
The institute has a library that has a stock of 57,000 volumes of books and about 5000 back volumes of scientific and technical periodicals. The library also subscribes to over 271 specialized journals. The VRSEC library follows the open access system, encouraging the user to browse freely in the stock area.
Well furnished hostels cater to the needs of 400 girls and 300 boys. Recreation halls and Gymnasiums are provided in each of the hostels. The students take part in a number of sporting events. Inter Departmental Games and Sports activities are held every year. College teams participate in invitation tournaments within and outside the state. Facilities are provided for Table Tennis, Volley Ball, Badminton, Shot-put, Football and Cricket. As a result of this sporting culture, the college teams regularly do well in sports tournaments. |
