Osmania University

Osmania University was founded in 1917 by the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan. It is home to nearly 300,000 students pursuing their higher studies in its Campus, Constituent, Affiliated Colleges and District Centers. Its faculty and staff number nearly 5000. It is a multi-faculty and multidisciplinary university, offering courses in a wide range of fields.

Osmania University was awarded five star rating by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) of the University Grants Commission, in the year 2001. The University has faculties in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Education, Law, Medicine, Engineering, Technology, Oriental Languages and Business Management. Apart from 8 campus colleges, the university has 5 constituent colleges. More than 700 colleges are affiliated with the Osmania University.

Osmania University has an Employment Information and Guidance Bureau. This Bureau collects and disseminates information on various sources like information data base agencies, newspapers, employment news etc., to the candidates visiting this Bureau.  A data bank consisting of “Occupation Information” is updated every month for the benefit of the students. The Bureau also provides information and guidance to set up Career Guidance Cells in the various colleges coming under Osmania University jurisdiction. Occupational and training information in various fields are collected and disseminated to the candidates on request.

A special section known as Competitive Examination Reference Library was established in 1997. This section helps the University students to prepare for the various competitive examinations like GRE and TOEFL. This section also provides reading materials for examinations conducted at the State levels.
