Kakatiya University is located in the historical town of Warangal, Andhra Pradesh. It has recently completed 29 years of its existence. The University offers about 120 programs at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level in the Faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Business Management, Social Sciences, Education, Engineering and Pharmaceutical Sciences. It has 340 constituent and affiliated colleges spread over four districts of Andhra Pradesh.
The University has a network of eleven constituent colleges with 24 Departments. About 175 research scholars are registered for Ph.D. programs in different faculties. At present, the University has its post-graduate Colleges at Nirmal, Karimnagar, Godavarikhani, Subedari, Khammam and Kothagudem. These are in addition to the main campus.
After the formation of the University, M. Phil. and Ph.D Programs were started. Facilities for research have been expanded by strengthening the library and laboratory facilities. A Central Instrumentation Centre has also been established to pool up the common facilities required by all the Science Departments. The university offers PG courses in Science for in-service teachers and government employees. The academic soundness of the institution is reflected in the well-equipped library. In 2004, e-journals were made available to the students, scholars and teachers. The library has a collection of over 100,000 books, 255 Indian and foreign journals, 25400 back volumes and 2000 theses/dissertations.
The university has initiated action to develop campus networking. There are plans to extend the facility to all colleges in Warangal. The Placement Cell helps students in procuring jobs in leading companies. It organizes industrial visits and campus interviews with well-known companies in various fields. |
