Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Sciences or KITS is a college affiliated to Kakatiya University in Warangal District of Andhra Pradesh. Established in 1980, and nnow celebrating silver jubilee year, it is one of the few reputed institutions in Andhra Pradesh which is famous for its strong academic background and infrastructure.
Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science is affiliated to the Kakatiya University, Warangal. In the year 1986, the Kakatiya University accorded permanent affiliation to the Institue. Consequently, the University Grants Commission declared that the Institute is fit to receive Central assistance. The Institute also received the approval of AICTE.
From the academic year 1992-93 the Institute adopted a revised curriculum. The new curriculum had a broad based core component, departmental compulsory courses, streamed professional electives, open electives, and project work consistent with the curriculum evolved by the AICTE. The new curriculum also takes into due consideration the requirements of GATE, Engineering Services examinations of UPSC and other recruitment tests. The institute offers four year degree programs leading to the B.Tech in the following specializations: Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.
The Institute is the first amongst the private engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh to start a Training and Placement section. On an average, 150 to 200 pre-final year students undergo vacation-training programs in various industries. The training & placement section arranges short duration training programs in consultation with reputable organizations. The Student Welfare Center conducts debates and competitions, and periodically invites guest lecturers on career planning.
