Guntur Medical College

Guntur Medical College is located in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the premier institutes in India offering both graduate (Masters) and under-graduate (Bachelors) courses in Medical Sciences.

On 6th July, 1954 Clinical courses were started in this college. The Medical College was started with 50 Undergraduate students; later this number was enhanced to 150 students. The Post Graduate Courses in Pre-Clinical Subjects were started in 1956 and the Clinical subjects in 1958. Now the College admits 78 P.G students in different specialties (both degree and diploma).
The Medical College also offers training to Paramedical Staff like Radiographers, Lab. Technicians, Pharmacists, Nurses, and Sanitary Inspectors. Guntur General Hospital has a total bed strength of 1038. About five thousand people throng the Out Patient departments daily for medical relief. The Hospital houses the internee’s quarters apart from the Nursing school. The main campus works closely with the Guntur General Hospital on various issues. It is one of the few centers in the country to have Satellite based training.
