Manju Warrier was born in the family of  an accountant and his homemaker wife in Kerala. As early as her school days, she displayed astonishing flair in dance. She became "Kalathilakam" in Kerala youth festival for 2 years. At the age of 15, she debuted with the Malayalam movie "Sallapam" which turned out to be a super hit. Thus began her immensely successful journey in filmdom, in which she acted in more than 50 Malayalam movies and won the heart of Keralites in no time. Manju Warrier has been hailed as one of the finest actresses that ever appeared on the Malayalam screen. Her performance in Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu won a special mention from the jury for National Awards.

On 20th October 1998 Manju got married to actor Dileep at Alwaye Sri Krishna Temple. At the peak of her career she left movies to become "kudumbini" and now she lives in Alwaye with Dileep and 6 month old daughter Meenakshi. Dileep is very possessive about his wife Manju. He does not allow her to give interviews or make any public appearance. Manju's brother Madhu has recently started acting in films. His first film is Campus. It has been reported that Madhu had requested his sister to promote his film. But she had to deny because of her husband's disapproval. Madhu put up a hoarding near the railway station depicting Manju's picture, which says, "I introduce my brother Madhu. Kindly bless him". But this infuriated his brother-in-law Dileep who dispatched a legal notice to the producer of the film for using her name and picture. But producer Ranjan says that he had spoken to Madhu's father and Manju about this and they had consented. Nevertheless, after the notice was sent he removed the hoarding.
