Kavya Madhavan is one the most popular actresses in Malayalam Cinema at present. Her childlike appearance and big expressive eyes captivated the hearts of Malayalam movie viewers. Hailing from the humble village of Neeleswaram in Kerala, she began her acting career at the tender age of 7 years. She debuted with the film Pookalam Varavayi released in 1991. She became an eminent child artist and showed her talent even in her childhood years. When she was a student of the ninth standard, she got the opportunity to act in the role of the female lead in a Lal Jose film Chandanudikkunna Dikkil, which became a resounding hit in the Malayalam film industry. Since then, Kavya has come along way and acted in over 25 films in Malayalam and quite a few in Tamil as well, with several hits to her credit. However, she has still retained her rural accent of her native village Nileshwaram. Kavya Madhavan has acted opposite to almost all the leading Malayalam male actors. In the film Mizhi Randilum she acted in double role and won accolades. Even within this short span of time, she has received several awards and honors. Kavya received the Best actress Award in 2004 for her film Perumazhakkalam. She had also won Film Critics Award in 2000 for Chandranudhikkunna Dikkil and Kerala Film Audience Award 2003 for Best Actress for her film Oomapenninu Uriyadapayan.
