Former model and Bollywood film star, Kausalya has a few screen names, depending on the location. Kausalya is credited in Nandini in Kerala. She is also known by her given name, Kavitha. Kausalya was born in Bangalore on December 30, 1979.

Growing up, Kausalya was very close to her mother Poornima, who was a homemaker. Kavitha Kausalya still considers her mom to be her greatest inspiration. Kausalya's father, ShivShankar was a mechanical engineer. Kausayla has one brother, Shanmuga.

Like many Indian film actresses, Kausalya got her start in films by first trying her hand at professional modeling. She was very successful at it. Despite being a former model, Kausalya is still most comfortable wearing just a simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
