Born to Daksha Seth, a renowned dancer from Gujrati
family, and Vissaro, and Australian music composer and photographer, Isha
Sharvani began taking dance lessons at the age of seven. "Isha" means
Goddess and "Sharvani" means Parvati. So her name means Goddess Parvati, who
is married to the God of dance. Her mother chose her first name and her aunt
chose her last name. She spent her early life with her parents in various
cities all over India, including Ahmedabad, Delhi, Orissa, Vrindavan and
Bangalore. Finally her family settled down at Vellani Lake near
Thiruvananthapuram where her parents opened an arts school named AARTI,
acronym for The Acadeher for Art Research, Training and Innovation. Isha has
taken formal training in various dance forms like learned Kalaripayattu,
Kathak and Chau and has given dance recitals in twenty-two countries over
last seven years. She is trained in gymnastics, martial arts, yoga, ballet,
aerial dance and more. Isha grew up amidst strict discipline, far away from
the adulation and media glare of Bollywood. She trained for almost eight to
ten hours everyday. She specializes in acrobatic dance forms and her rope
dance numbers in her debut film won her instant fame and admiration. This
talented dancer never really gave acting much consideration, she wanted to
become a vet as a kid. Her skill was spotted by veteran filmmaker Subhash
Ghai. He gave her a break in his production Kisna opposite Viveik Oberoi in
2005. The film was unsuccessful at the box office, but Isha was widely
acclaimed for her performance. Isha is open to experimentation and wants to
try her hand at Bengali cinema, art cinema, and commercial cinema,
everything that comes her way.
In recent times, Isha has been reported to be dating
cricketer Zaheer Khan.
