Celina Jaitley was born on June 9, 1981 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Her father is a Punjabi while her mother is from Afghanistan. Celina’s mother used to be a model but is now a psychologist. Celina and her brother grew up in Kolkata and her brother is now in the Indian army. Celina herself wanted to join the army either as a pilot or a doctor but life had other plans for her.
In 2001 Celina won the Miss India beauty pageant and went on to represent India at the Miss Universe competition held at Puerto Rico. Though Celina did not win the Miss Universe competition she was one of the finalist. After the competition, Celina complained about the media who had inferred that she was only in the competition because of some political meddling. She felt that the media had treated her badly and seen her as threat to the local girl who eventually won the Miss Universe crown. Celina was the fourth runner up in the Miss Universe competition.
After the Miss Universe competition, Celina entered Bollywood by becoming a model. Celina has won the Margo Miss Beautiful Skin award for her flawless skin. She attributes this to eating a lot of vegetables and vitamins.
Celina hopes to fulfill her dream of being a pilot. She hopes to save enough money to enroll herself in a US flying club to gain her pilot’s license.
Celina’s favorite actor is none other than Amitabh Bachchan while her favorite actress is Sushmita Sen. When she is not modeling or acting, Celina enjoys reading, sketching and listening to music.
Celina made her debut in Bollywood with the film Janasheen in 2003. She starred opposite Fardeen Khan, the son of Bollywood actor Feroz Khan. 2003 also saw the release of Celina’s next film Khel. She then went on to act in No Entry, which was a box office success, in 2005.
Celina’s new movies include Tom, Dick and Harry and Apna Sapna Money Money. She has also done a music video with Bombay Vikings band for their music video Zara Nazron Se Kehdo. Celina recently did a promotional music video along with co-stars Dino Morea, Anuj Sawhney and Jimmy Shergill for their new film Tom, Dick and Harry. |
