Ayesha Takia was born on April 10, 1986 in Mumbai. Her father is Gujarati while her mother is half British and half Maharashtrian.
Ayesha has been modeling from the tender age of four. At the age of 15 she acted in Falguni Pathak’s music video titled Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye. Then she acted in her next music video Shake It Daddy. The success of both these music videos gave Ayesha an entry into the film industry.
Ayesha used to speak English at home and had to learn Hindi in order to act in Hindi films. She signed two Bollywood films, Socha Na Tha and Tarzan: The Wonder Car. Tarzan: The Wonder car was her debut film since it was released before Socha Na Tha. For this film she won the Filmfare Best Debut Award in 2004.
2005 saw the release of two films, Shaadi No. 1 and Home Delivery. In 2006, three of her films were released: Shaadi Ke Pehle, Yun Hota To Kya Hota and Dor. Ayesha still has a long way to go in the film industry. However, of late Ayesha is trying to break into the Telugu movie circuit.
Ayesha is a pure vegetarian and an animal lover. She keeps trying to get people to stop using leather and products that are tested on animals. Ayesha is fond of listening to music. She is partial to trance, rock and ghazals. Her favorite Indian singers are Ghulam Ali and Abeeda Parveen.
In 2006 on a poll conducted by Zoom TV, an Indian television channel, Ayesha was among the top ten in the listing of India’s 50 Most Desirable Women.
There was a time when Ayesha used to date Manisha Koirala’s brother, Siddharth. However, now she is dating Farhan Azmi, who is the owner of a famous restaurant in Mumbai named Koyla. There have been a lot of rumors that Ayesha is all set to marry her boyfriend Farhan but there has been no official confirmation.
Ayesha is not comfortable wearing skimpy clothes and doing passionate scenes. She turned down Yash Raj’s film Neal n Nikki because the film had too many bold scenes and she felt that she would be comfortable doing those scenes and they would hamper her performance. In retrospect, this might have been a sensible decision since the movie did not fare well in the box office. |
