A Gold Medalist in Economics from Tufts' University Boston, Amisha Patel was all et to launch a high profile career with numbers. After completing graduation, she started to work for a financial organization. But as luck would have it, films happened instead. Her passion for channeling her creative knacks led her to take up acting. She got attached with Satyadev Dubey's theatre group and began acting in plays. Rakesh Roshan noticed her at a Mumbai party and decided agreed to cast her opposite his son, Hrithik Roshan's debut vehicle Kaho Naa Pyar Hai. Her parents were vehemently opposed to the idea of her joining films, but her determination made them relent. The film went on to become a historic hit. Amisha is trained in Bharatnatyam since the age of five and her many live performances helped her overcome camera or stage fright. This gorgeous girl with charming smile and twinkling eyes enchanted the audience.
She honestly acknowledges that a female lead has limited scope in Hindi films, unless she has made a mark in the market. With Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Gadar setting the box-office ablaze, Amisha's rise to fame was certain. Producers made a beeline for her. But a string of eminently forgettable flop films ensued, that has brought her career to a standstill. On top of that, her recurrent involvement in controversies with her costars has added fuel to the fire. She even got into a public fracas about financial mismanagement with her parents that generated a lot of negative publicity. She is at present involved with director Vikram Bhatt.
