Jugal Hansraj started his acting career as a child artist in the poignant drama Masoom (1983) that starred stalwarts like Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi. He played the role of Naseeruddin’s nine years old son born out of an illicit affair and was not being tolerated by Naseer’s wife in the film Shabana. The rosy-lipped hazel-eyed boy won the heat of millions with his innocent performance, and later on starred as child artist in several films like Loha, Karma and Sultanat.
Hansraj also modeled as a kid for television and print media in the ad campaigns of big brands like Nutramul.
His adult career started with the 1995 film Aa Gale Lag Jaa opposite renowned actress Urmila Matondkar, who incidentally played the role of his sister in their first film Masoom. The film was a box office dud. But Hansraj came back with Papa Kehte Hai opposite Mayuri Kango and was noted for his performance. Then came a series of flops, but his career was re-launched with the 2000 blockbuster Mohabbatein by Yash Raj Productions. He bagged the film by virtue of his long acquaintance with the Chopra family. The film starred acting giants like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, along with Aishwarya Rai, Jimmy Shergill, Uday Chopra, Shamita Shetty, Kim Sharma, and Preeti Jhangiani. Jugal won the hearts of the Indian youth with his charming face and likeable performance. Unfortunately, he has since been reduced to appearing in bit roles and guest appearances, his career never quite took off inspite of his talent.
