Anil Kapoor, born on December 24, 1959, is married with three children. This famous Bollywood actor’s father, Surinder Kapoor, is a film producer. His brother, Boney Kapoor, is a producer while his younger brother, Sanjay, is an actor though not as successful as Anil. His brother Boney is married to Sridevi, who was a top actresses in the 80s and 90s.
Anil made his debut into Bollywood in 1979 with Hamare Tumhare where had a supporting role. He continued to do small roles in films till 1983 when he acted as the main protagonist in Who Saat Din. He has also acted in one Telugu and one Kannada film after that. However, in 1985 Anil had a huge success with a string of films like Meri Jung in 1985, Karma in 1986 and biggest hit till date, Mr India in 1987. In this film he acted with Sridevi.
Then, in 1988 he acted with Madhuri Dixit in Tezaab which made him the undisputed super star of Bollywood. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his role in Tezaab. In 1989, he had another 2 box office success with Ram Lakhan and Parinda. Anil then tried something different in 1991. He played a middle aged man in Lamhe. Though the film did not do well in India, Anil won a lot of accolades for his acting skills. In the UK, Lamhe was extremely successful.
In 1992, Anil won his second Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his film Beta. He then went on to act opposite Manisha Koirala in 1942: A Love Story in 1994 which won a lot of critical acclaim.
After a lull of few years, Anil announced his comeback with hit films like Judaai, Deewana Mastana, Virasat and he repeated this in 1999 with Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rahte Hain, Biwi No. 1 and Taal. He won his first National Film Award for Best Actor with his role as an Army Officer in the film Pukar.
In 2004, Anil being true to himself and his fan had another box office hit with the release of Musafir. Though he had three releases in 2005 with Chocolate, My Wife’s Murder and No Entry, only the latter was a major box office success.
Today, Anil is all set to introduce his daughter, Sonam, into Bollywood. She will be acting opposite Ranbir who is Rishi and Neetu Kapoor’s son.
