Steps to a Healthy Intimate Long Distance Relationshipby Pralay Intimacy does not always have to be physical (hugging, kissing, holding hands). It can be derived from a spiritual / mental connection between two individuals. I have learned that you can have an intimate relationship without being next to each other. But it takes more effort. Spiritual Equivalent to Hugging Hugging is a physical action that expresses warmth and comfort with another individual. We can hug friends, parents, children and lovers to express this same emotion. The spiritual equivalent is to express in words (by speaking/writing) how comfortable you feel with another individual and why they are so important in your life. Tell them why you value them in your lives and what they mean to you. Spiritual Equivalent to Holding Hands Similar to hugging, you can hold hands with a friend as well as a lover. The difference to hugging is that holding hands last for a longer amount of time. Spiritual Equivalent to Kissing Kissing is a physical action that expresses closeness, attraction, and vulnerability to another individual. We kiss people whom we feel a special bond and want to get close to that person. Yeah, in the physical sense. But you can become closer to another individual by listening to each other, writing each other love blurbs/poems, talking to each other about sentimental things. Last Words How often do you really talk to your significant other for 2 hours straight? I bet you all go straight into kissing if you have that much time together...but keep in mind how much better physical intimacy is once you have already solidified your mental and spiritual bond. |
